Working Our Way Out of Poverty Participatory Budgeting Funding

Dumfries and Galloway Council are once again launching another round of Participatory Budgeting Funding which is specifically designed to give people the opportunity to make decisions on funding for anti-poverty projects within their local area. We want to ensure that local people and communities are at the heart of our decision making. Together we we'll be able to achieve more and better outcomes for our local communities through PB.

How it works

We are delivering Participatory Budgeting for 1% of our budget to let local communities directly influence spending decisions in their areas.

We will do this by:

·         working with people in your community to identify local priorities

·         generating solutions to meet local priorities

·         choosing the most popular solutions

Working our way out of Poverty Funding

For this allocation of Participatory Budgeting Funding, we want to offer organisations the opportunity to increase their capacity by recruiting additional staff to support you to deliver on projects which tackle the various forms of poverty within our region.  This targeted approach to funding will support organisations to increase their capacity in order to deliver critical services during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This PB Funding offers a unique opportunity to apply for the costs of a new employee who will help you to deliver your current projects or new projects which tackle poverty.  This funding can be used flexibly and can be used to create posts which are either part time or full time, or continue existing posts where the funding has ended. We want to be as flexible as we can to support your organisations to put in place the best approach that supports your community.

The projects which we are hoping will be delivered through this funding will ultimately:

·         increase income from employment

·         help to reduce the costs of living

·         increase income from national and regional benefits and benefits in kind.

Grant application amounts

Your organisation can apply for any amount up to the sum of £15,000.00.
