KCC Minutes Jan 2021 and Scam Warning

 KCC Minutes Jan 2021

Please find attached Minutes of January's KCC meeting.

Can I ask you to ensure that your neighbours/friends/family are made aware of some of the scams surrounding the Covid vaccine roll-out. In a recent case a scammer tried to gain entry to an elderly person's home in Heathhall saying they were a nurse and were there to provide the innoculation. Police are asking for help with making people aware of this and asking if anyone has any information to contact them.

This is from the government website:

Council trading standards teams are now receiving reports of scammers calling to offer an appointment to receive a vaccine at a cost or sending a text that directs the recipient to a convincing fake NHS website with a booking link.

The LGA said the COVID-19 vaccine will always be free in the UK and delivered by the NHS. Patients will be sent a letter by the NHS call/recall service informing them of their eligibility, and receive a call from Primary Care Networks, offering the choice of booking at a GP-led vaccination centre or using the national booking service.

The LGA is urging people who are contacted to remember that any contact regarding a real NHS COVID-19 vaccination booking will never:

  1. Ask for payment or any bank details
  2. Ask you to press a button on your keypad when on the phone
  3. Ask you to send a text to confirm the booking

Anyone who has concerns about whether an approach is genuine should speak to their local GP surgery.

Keep safe

KCC Kirkton Village Hall News, Climate Asset Fund

Hello All,

I'm attaching some good news from Kirkton Hall about the next part of the refurbishment project.  By the time we are able to use it again it will be a much brighter and cosier place to be.

This cold spell is making our roads and paths quite treacherous in places.  Please take care.

We have just heard that the lockdown including school closures will continue until at least the middle of February.  We'd still love to hear from you if you have anything to share which would cheer us all up!

Best wishes,
Alice

Hi,

I have attached for your consideration a bit about sunspots & photos of some. The pics were taken either from my garden or beside the church when the sun was not fully visible from there.

It may pass some time during the lockdown.

KCC eGrapevine 06/01/21

As you probably are aware, in recent days there has been a large increase in Covid cases in our area.  We have gone from being one of the least affected to one of the worst.

It is important that we are on our guard to keep ourselves safe.  The Kirkmahoe Support Group is still in operation and able to offer help and support if needed.  We just need to be asked.

And please also take care on the icy roads and pavements.  This is not a good time to need to use A&E services.  I hope you enjoy this little clip for 'Still Game'!

Please remember to abide by the restrictions laid out by the Scottish Government.  We have put up with so much over the last few months but hopefully it won't be too long before we can socialise safely again.

I'm looking forward to getting my vaccination.  It can't come soon enough!

Best wishes for 2021.

Alice
