Danger of Flooding Warning

Image result for flooded road

DANGER OF FLOODING
In the past the biggest floods in the Kirkton and Carnsalloch areas  have been when heavy rain here combines with a sudden thaw of snow from the hills around Wanlockhead. These are the conditions forecast for this weekend.

So far this year the floodwater has hardly exceeded SEPA's definition of 'normal flow', but it looks as if it might in the next few days.

We cannot predict if the floodbanks will hold or if houses will be flooded but there are likely to be stretches of road which are impassable - Please take care and do not enter long stretches of flooded road particularly where cars have been trapped in the past,
  1. between Connansknowe and Kirkton Church
  2. between Carnsalloch gate and Kirkton village
  3. Auchencrieff bridge
There are bound to be others!

We know from experience that the emergency services and council will be stretched and probably not available to help, so please take care.

If you get need help you can contact the community council through this email address or facebook or by phoning Jean Muir on 01387 710216 or Irene Patterson on 01387 710060 and we will do our best to get you assistance through the community

Please pass this message to your neighbours who may not receive this message.
Thanks
