Our Carol Singers Dec 2012

On Sunday,16th December, a small but enthusiastic group of singers, ably supported by cornet and euphonium set off to disturb the peace and quiet of Kirkton village. Hazards caused by potholes, piles of earth from the recent excavations and 'dead' streetlights were ignored. Three young collectors intrepidly rang every doorbell, tearing the occupants from their favourite television programmes.

We sang a variety of carols and songs, from 'Away in a manger' to 'White Christmas' and were delighted by the response of many who came out to listen and donated generously to the Sam Leask memorial fund. We were even treated to warming fruit teas by one kind resident!

Once the whole village had been visited, we retired to the village hall, where a spread of mulled wine, with a non-alcoholic option, soup and cakes and nibbles was provided by a band of supporters.

The total raised was over £121. Thanks to all who donated so generously.

We would be very happy to see more singers next year. All are welcome!
